The Opportunity

Walk Jog Run is a running app and website that allows users to create and share running routes, calculate distance and pace, and track calories burned, among many other features. Over the years Walk Jog Run has been successful in accumulating a large number of emails for their email marketing efforts but was looking to further engage users through social media. They wanted to find a way to encourage those already part of the email list to “like” their Facebook page and those who were already a fan on Facebook to join their email list. They also wanted to endorse a new promotional video through social media and create a viral effect to establish an emotional connection with users new and old.

The Approach

Social Contests worked with Walk Jog Run to incorporate all the features necessary to create a successful campaign that met their goals. A visually appealing contest showcasing Walk Jog Run’s new promotional video was created. Users were not only required to “like” Walk Jog Run on Facebook but they were also prompted to watch the video before entering. Social Contests also leveraged Walk Jog Run’s already existing email list. Using the email list with the incentivized sharing feature built in to the campaign allowed for an instant viral effect. A mobile optimized version of the campaign was an essential component as users were encouraged to download the iPhone app on the final page of the contest.
